Review: Shu Uemura A/O Cleansing Oil

I was at Sephora, getting ready to check out, when I noticed all the little travel sized products surrounding the checkout. It's no secret that I love minis. Great way to try things without a huge commitment if you don't like it. The Shu Uemura Skin Purifier Cleansing Beauty Oil was always on my list to try, so I shelled out the $12 and gave it a whirl. It is described as a "anti-aging and antioxidant skin purifier that thoroughly cleanses the skin while protecting it against the internal and external aggressions associated with aging." It's a cleanser and makeup remover in one.

I use... 4-5 drops of this on a dry face and rub it in. Add a bit of water and it becomes creamy. Really massage it in and over the eyes if you're wearing waterproof mascara. Makeup just slips off, it's kind of amazing. It completely eliminates the need for eye makeup remover (sorry Lancome Bi-Facil, I still love you)! Rinse off and because it's an oil, your skin doesn't feel dry or tight. I personally use it as a makeup remover, not a face cleanser, because it's pretty expensive. I use 3LAB Perfect Cleansing Foam in the AM. It's a small bottle (1.6 oz) and I'm glad I tried it and I will say that I just ordered the 5 oz Skin Purifier High Performance Cleansing Oil Fresh ($28, the pink one) from the Shu Uemura website.

L'Oreal has decided to discontinue operations in the US, since it does 80% of its business in Asia. The good news is that us Americans can still purchase through the website. Sign up as a member and you'll get free shipping and special deals and samples with your order.
