MAC - To The Beach Reviews

There is fun in the sun, to be sure, but to the beach is more of a sensual state of mind- a pleasure we all feel near the sea. The girl and boy from Ipanema, from Cap D’Antibes to West Palm Beach… All around the world, the seaside has a romance, and a kind of golden, sexy alchemy we’re all drawn to. This collection encapsulates it, with a new, lapping-wave lip pencil and High-Light Powder in coral shades, Nail Lacquer- a scorcher!- Eye Shadow, Kohl, and Powder Blush to get away from it all effortlessly. Sanddabs, seashells, the magic of Marine Life decorating packaging in the most soothing, sultry shades of summertime. Close your eyes, and go to the beach!

Eye Shadow ($14.50 U.S./$17.50 CDN)
-Sun & Sand- Light peach (matte)
-Firecracker- Frosted mid-tone red orange (veluxe pearl)
-Sweet & Punchy- Bright yellow green (veluxe pearl)
-Shimmermoss- Green with green pearl (veluxe pearl)
-Humid- Intense green with shimmer (frost)

Lipstick ($14.50 U.S./$17.50 CDN)
-Beachbound- Sheer frosted pale peach (glaze)
-Lazy Day- Light dirty blue pink (luster)
-Thrills- Rosy Copper with gold pearl (frost)
-Funbathing- Mid-tone bronzed plum (cremesheen)

I LOVE all of the packaging designs for this collection. They're super cute. Not as cute as Liberty of London, but still quite cute. I got Beachbound. It looks like a golden frosted peach in the tube. But when it's mixed with the pink pigment of my lips, it becomes a gorgeous peachy pink with gold shimmer. Doesn't last too long, but it's nice color in my opinion.

Lipglass ($14 U.S./$16.50 CDN)
-Easy Lounger- Light baby pink with multi-dimensional pearl
-Flurry of Fun- Sheer sparkly peach
-Splashing- Mid-tone blue pink with soft gold pearl

Lip Pencil ($13 U.S./$15.50 CDN)
-Life’s A Breeze- Soft pink
-Temperature Rising- Loudmouth Orange

I got Temperature Rising. Again, packaging, awesome. This is a bright orange for sure, but it can be toned down or up with a lipstick or gloss layered on top. Very smooth and when used to fill in the entire mouth, it lasts for about 2 hours.

Eye Kohl ($14.50 U.S./$17.50 CDN)
-Rosemary & Thyme- Mid-tone olive gold with shimmer
-Float On By- Dark Green Turquoise

Float On By has certainly become a favorite. It's smooth and creamy and the color reminds me of a mermaid tail or something. I like the way it looks with a shimmery bronzer on the cheeks and Float On By smudged out around the entire eye. It also looks amazing with black liner on the water line and Float On By smudged around for a dramatic night loook. Looks kind of mediterranean.

Powder Blush ($18.50 U.S./$22 CDN)
-Hipness- Intense coral with soft white pearl (frost)
-Get-Away Bronze- Mid-tone suntan (frost)

High-Light Powder ($26 U.S./$32 CDN)
-Marine Life- Multicolour pressed powder

Oh the gorgeousness that is the Marine Life High-Light Powder... Unfortunately the gold parts are only an overspray and disappear after one use. I wish that was different because I think the coral looks so pretty with gold, however I do still like it as a blush. The bright pink mixed with the pale pink makes a nice flush.

Nail Lacquer ($12 U.S./$14.50 CDN)
-In The Buff- Muted taupe avocado (cream)
-Scorcher- Creamy bright coral red (cream)

The face must be protected at all times! But we have ways to bronze and beautify… Fake it, but get colour that looks sun-kissed! A safe way to evoke the golden glow of a glorious walk on the beach, the magical moodiness of sunsets all over the world, colours shifting from glowing gold to glorious bronze to sundown brown. The chic glamour of faraway places, a ticket to paradise inspired by the dream of a life lived sur la mer. Bronzing Powder, Cream Bronzer, Lustre Drops, Bronze Body Oil, and our stylish City-to-Seaside to the beach bags… Wherever you are, see you at the beach!

MAC To The Beach Bag ($49.50 U.S./$59.50 CDN)
Available at MAC Stores Only

MAC To The Beach Cream Bronzer ($25 U.S./$30 CDN)
-Beach Bronze- Golden glow with soft gold finish
-Weekend- Mid-tone deep orange brown with soft pink pearl

I got Beach Bronze. I was afraid it wouldn't be dark enough but it is (though I would still like to have one in Weekend, just for kicks). This is a truly brilliant product! Thank you MAC for creating it! I use the dark brown cream to contour my cheeks and warm up across the bridge of my nose. There is a bit of golden shimmer, but not too much. I usually top this with a powder bronzer for lasting power but you don't have to.

Lustre Drops ($18.50 U.S./$22.50 CDN)
-Pink Rebel- Blue pink with gold pearl
-Sun Rush- Peachy bronze with gold pearl

Lustre Drops are like hidden gems in the MAC collections. Sun Rush is beautiful buffed onto the high points of the face with a powder brush or skunk brush. You can also apply them to your face, eyes or lips with your fingers. Great on your decolletage or shoulders too. A true multi-tasker.

Bronzing Powder ($22 U.S./$27 CDN)
-Golden- Muted golden tan-beige with golden shimmer
-Refined Golden- Finely spun golden with soft pearl finish

MAC To The Beach Bronze Body Oil ($22 U.S./$27 CDN)
Glowing tan with multi-dimensional golden shimmer.

I am very attracted to oils of all sorts. Hair oil, body oil, face oil- I love them all. The first time I used this I made the mistake of using a lotion before this. I would recommend mixing it with another oil if you want more moisture without all the glitter. This is perfection. I think it's a little heavy on its own, but mixed I love it. It provides a golden, glittery glow without a heavy oily feel.
