Review: Korres Watermelon Lightweight Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30

I bought the Korres Watermelon Lightweight Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30 ($28) a while ago and forgot to review it properly. While the tube is on the small side, I find that I only need a pea size amount to cover my entire face and even out my complexion. I have #2 Medium Honey, which is a little lighter than I expected but ended up working out well since my face is a little lighter now than in the summertime (for reference I'm a MAC NC 30). Aside from being all natural and oil-free, it smells like watermelon! and it lasts, even without a primer. I actually don't usually use a primer on my face anyway, but it ends up lasting the whole day. I'm talking 9-5:30. Past 5:30 you might want to do some touch-up work. It's labeled as a tinted moisturizer but I consider it more of a light foundation. Lately, it's been my go to.

My main gripe is the price. $28 for a measly 1.01 oz? Lame. I bought this at Korres.com in the Bronze & Protect Trio (in warm, $29.50 for $66 value) when they were having a 20% off sale, which means I got it all for $23.60. But that includes a full size Bronzer and mini Face Primer. The Bronzer has a gold shimmer in it but I prefer mine matte. The Primer is perfect for traveling and smells like lemon. You can still get the whole kit at Sephora or at Korres. The good news is Korres.com has lots of sales and special deals, so you might want to sign up for their newsletter.

Overall I'm really happy with the quality and lasting power of the Tinted Moisturizer. But I wouldn't pay full price for it.

Review: Korres Raspberry Antioxidant Liquid Lipstick

I was just on the Korres website, and I originally thought it was pronounced "Kores" but it's apparently "Kor-rez." You learn something new every day I suppose. I recently tried the Raspberry Antioxidant Liquid Lipstick ($22) in 25 Natural. Let me first note that online, the swatch for 25 Natural appears to be a fleshy peachy pink color. In reality, it's a medium/deep rose tone. I also bought a concealer in Medium, but it turned out to be way too light for my skin, so I gave it to my mom.

Lesson: Be cautious when trusting color swatches online. They are not always accurate.

The lipstick is described as a water-based liquid lipstick with the creamy texture of a gloss and the long-lasting finish of a lipstick. I like the initial color and shine when applied, it feels moisturizing and creamy, but it only lasts for half an hour, tops. Then it leaves you completely bare lipped. For $22 it's a pretty big disappointment.

Review: Korres Bronze & Protect Value Set

The Korres Bronze & Protect Value Set (a $66 value, was $28, now $22) includes 3 of their bestselling products: Watermelon Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30, Monoi Oil Bronzing Powder and Silicone Free 99% Natural Face Primer. I've used the primer before. It's lemony and I love the mini size for my purse. Great for those who don't want silicone in their primer. The tinted moisturizer smells just like watermelon! It claims to be water resistant, oil free and provides UVA/UVB broad spectrum sun protection. While the color (I got 2 medium honey) is a little bit light for me, it does even skintone while being lightweight. Finally the bronzing powder, in sunglow warm, looks very natural and slightly shimmery. The color is pigmented and buildable without being orange. Considering that the bronzing powder is regularly $28, the tinted moisturizer is $28 and the mini face primer is $10-- and I got it all for $22, that's a HELL of a deal. I love the natural products and packaging.

Review: Korres Pomegranate Cleansing Wipes & Face Primer

Pomegranate Cleansing Wipes
($12)- Oil free face wipes that contain pomegranate extract, which reduces the size of pores and fights against free radicals, and Vitamin E. I LOVE these. For some reason, the pomegranate thing works. It smells good but more importantly it does its job. My face is clean and fresh feeling after using it, not oily or slimy or too dry. They even remove my precious waterproof L'Oreal Voluminous mascara without too much rubbing. It's $12 for 25 wipes. That comes out to... roughly 50 cents per wipe. Which is actually not such a good deal, according to my husband (whom I caught using one last night) but that's okay. I'll overlook it, because they work. And they're Greek. And cool.

Travel Size Face Primer ($10 for 0.34 oz./ $28 for 1.01 oz.)- Silicone-free, 99% natural face primer that fills in lines and wrinkles and reduces the appearance of pores. I love travel-size anything, because you're not committing yourself to having a whole tube of something you might not like. It smells lemony and absorbs quickly. I don't usually use primer, so I can't really compare it to anything but Tarte's Clean Slate. But they both do their jobs, for the record. It's also pretty cool that it's 99% natural. Also good for those who don't like silicone.

Review: Korres Lip Saver Roll

Korres Lip Saver Roll ($19.50, $27 value)- 3 of the best-selling Korres Lip Butters in Pomegranate (sheer coral), Quince (sheer rose) and Jasmine (sheer neutral pink). These have a very soft cushiony feel when you stick your finger in it. I scoop some out for a rich, truly buttery balm that's slightly tinted and moisturizing (shea butter and rice wax). I like them but they're not my favorite because they tend to wear off pretty quickly. My favorite is the pomegranate.

Review: Korres- Best of Korres Set

Korres Best of Korres Set ($25):

Yoghurt Cooling Gel Sachet

A soothing cream-gel made of real, edible yohgurt, that instantly reduces UV induced redness. This is a really neat gel that smells slightly floral and sinks into skin without being greasy or sticky at all. I think I'll definitely get a full sized one next summer.

Vanilla Cinnamon Little Showergel

Every showergel is enriched with Active Aloe® that stimulates collagen and elastin to reduce the visible signs of aging. Wheat proteins form a protective shield to maintain skin's ideal moisture level and vitamins C, E and Zinc enhance the natural immune system of the skin.

The vanilla cinnamon scent is very nice. Not overly sugary.

Basil Lemon Little Showergel
Scent: fresh, citrus
Feel: Invigorating

I wasn't sure if I'd like this one, but it's refreshing and the thyme gives the lemon a nice kick.

Guava Little Body Butter
This is a thick but not too thick fruity body butter. Very moisturizing without stickiness. Love it.

Wild Rose Moisturizer

Wild Rose 24-hour moisturizer that quickly and effectively heals and lightens hyper- pigmentation.
• Wild Rose oil, a potent, natural source of vitamin C, significantly diminishes fine lines, hyper- pigmentation and resurfaces skin, revealing a soft and radiant complexion
• Imperata cylindrica a desert plant extract, ensures 24-hour long-lasting hydration by continually regulating the cellular water equilibrium
• Pure vitamin C inhibits free radical damage and brightens the skin
• Phytic Acid, a natural skin lightener, helps illuminating sun damage and acne scarring
-Grape seed extract, rich in Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant, helps promote a healthy and youthful complexion
-Olive oil, almost identical in chemical structure to our skin lipids, provides ideal hydration, while allowing the skin to breathe
After using the sample size of this, I'm definitely considering buying the full size. I love the rose scent and the way it hydrates without being greasy. I'm not sure though... it only has SPF 6 and $32 is kind of a lot.

Evening Primrose Eye Cream
Evening Primrose triple action eye cream that reduces fine lines and dark circles while shielding from the sun’s damaging rays
• Evening Primrose oil rich in linolenic acid, an essential fatty acid, provides hydration and nourishes the delicate skin around the eyes.
• Vitamin K and Ruscus extracts work synergistically to increase blood microcirculation, quickly and visibly diminishing dark circles while also moisturizing the skin.
• Zinc oxide, a natural sunscreen, prevents premature aging by providing sun protection
I've been using this in the morning. It's very lightweight. I like that it has SPF. Makes a good base for concealer. I'm not thoroughly convinced it's worth the price tag.

Overall my favorites of this bunch were the Yohgurt Cooling Gel, the Vanilla Cinnamon Showergel and the Guava Body Butter. I definitely like the quality of Korres products and plan on trying more of them (actually I'm making an order now!) You might think the scents are unusual and not for you, but try them first. You may be surprised.

Use code: luckybreaks1 at checkout for 30% off everything.

NAKED for a free lip liner and gloss ($32 value)
DRAMATIC for a free black eyeliner and mini mascara ($26 value)
both with any purchase over $45. Ends October 8, 2009.

You can only use one, so choose wisely!
